Show Toronto we want a republic
with an elected head of state!
Join the 200-member Toronto chapter of CCR on its annual sidewalk march through Toronto's
core to protest the monarchy. This year, we're also using the
occasion to express our support for CCR's
Charles Roach
and his class action lawsuit to end the Citizenship Act's mandatory oath of
allegiance to the Queen for new citizens.
Participants are
asked to gather at Dundas Square at the corner of Yonge and
Dundas Streets at 11:30
AM. The march will last about one hour, ending at Queen Street
West and Spadina Avenue. Maple Leaf flags or signs and placards with your own
personal statements fitting the occasion are welcome but subject
to approval by the parade marshals. Signs will also be
provided.

Our banners in use
at a recent Ottawa Chapter event. |
These sidewalk events are great
fun with lots of positive response from the public. Be prepared
for many stops along the way to allow pedestrians to snap photos
of us carrying our colourful banners. Pauses will also take
place at the Eaton Centre, Nathan Phillips Square and for media
coverage.
Parking is
available on side streets and municipal parking lots. This event is
approved and supervised by the Toronto Police.
Regarding the weather; as of May 16, the
long-range forecast looks great - sunny and warm. But in case of
inclement weather, please check our
Event Listing
page for a weather status report on the morning of May 21 to
find out if the event is effected.
